Picnic is a reflection of the moments I shared with my Buelo and Buela during childhood. They would pick up my sister and me, and we’d head to the park, where the city’s summer food program brought meals to kids. But the food itself is not what lingers most in my memory; it’s the warmth of being with them, the way the days felt endless and free, and the simple joy of running across the grass under the sun.
Some of those memories are a bit fuzzy now, like the specific details of the meals we ate. But the feelings are vivid—being loved, cared for, and having that special time with my grandparents. This piece, with its 3-D printed food and grassy patch, is a tribute to the emotions that have stayed with me long after those summer days. It’s about remembering not just the moments themselves, but how they made me feel: connected, joyful, and deeply loved.
